New September Class!

Join us for a 2 class adventure into natural dyeing and knitting with natural dyer Helen Krayenhoff & knitters Carol Schwamberger and Jill Warner.

This class is open to all knitters who have mastered cast on/off, knit/purl,
increase/decrease. The project patterns supplied will be
a beanie, scarf or cowl.

Class No. 1
Sunday, September 17, 1 to 4 pm

For the first class, we will meet on Helen’s back deck in the Dimond District of Oakland and dye 4 oz of wool yarn that we provide. With plant material collected locally, we will extract the dye, tie the skeins to create random patterns and simmer them in the dye baths. We may experiment with some pH modifiers to expand the color palette.
Wear clothing and shoes you don’t mind getting wet or stained.

Class No. 2
Sunday, September 24, 1 to 4 pm

At the second class, we will meet on Carol’s deck (one block from Helen’s deck) to start knitting our dyed yarn. It will be exciting to see how everyone’s uniquely dyed yarn will create patterns that come alive in the knitted beanie, scarf or cowl project.

Max class size: 5 people
Cost: $95 (plus materials fee $25) = $120 total
Materials: 4 oz. mordanted Lani’s Lana worsted weight wool yarn
